Privacy
The short version: your files never leave your device.
Files you open
When you open a file from your device, it is read and rendered entirely inside your browser using JavaScript. It is not uploaded to OpenViewer or anywhere else, and nothing about its contents is sent over the network. When you open a file by URL, your browser fetches it directly from that URL's host; OpenViewer does not proxy or store it.
What we can see
Like most websites, our host (Cloudflare) processes standard request logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) to serve and protect the site. When enabled, we use privacy-friendly aggregate page statistics (Umami) that count page views and clicks on outbound tool links — never file names or file contents.
Cookies and accounts
OpenViewer has no accounts and sets no tracking cookies of its own.
